Midway Utah

Here's Jeff looking gorgeous as usual!  He and I stayed in Midway in Oct.  I love Midway, it's so beautiful there!  We ate dinner at Tarahumara.  The food was good.  We ate outdoors which was really nice too.  I toyed with the idea of going on a haunted hayride, but we didn't end up going.
Guess who??
My Aunt Diane, let us stay at her time share.

There's an old apple orchard we like to go to there.  Unfortunately we were there later this year, so we didn't get to see and smell the sweet apples.  The name of the orchard is Huber Grove.  I love reading the history there and walking in the same places that the Huber's did.

A beautiful and peaceful place.

Father's Day

We got home from our Orem trip on Father's Day.  We were able to see Jeff for an hour or so before he headed off to work.

We got him an Aloe plant (he likes to use aloe) and some other goodies, mostly edible ones.

Jeff wasn't into sharing his candy bar bouquet. ;-)

Happy Father's Day to all the great dad's out there!!

Boys and More Boys

Here's a photo of Rooks taking a nap.  I love it when babies sleep with their bums in the air.  So cute!

A van full of boys!  We were headed out one day to pick the girls up from school.  There's Ashton, Rooks (who I babysit) and Jake in the backseat who is the son of a friend of mine.  Little boys are so fun!  Little girls are too, just to be fair!

Lovin' the dirt, nothing new there.

Jeff and Rooks playing on the floor.

And of course going after the camera!

Give Us the Dirt

We're still working on getting our yard in, or I should say, Jeff is still working on getting our yard in.  Ashton likes to help too.

It's a long, time consuming process, when you're doing it yourself.   We got a quote from a popular landscaping company in the Uintah Basin, it was going to cost at least $9,000 for sprinklers and sod, so we decided to try doing it ourselves.  Fun Stuff!!  Not really.

Ashton on my old, old tricycle.  I'm glad it's still around!

My farm boys playing on the big, orange tractor!

They loved it!  Well, maybe Jeff loved it a little less after bringing in 40 scoops of dirt from a pile down the road.

Working It Out

Here are me and Ashton cuddling after Jeff and I got home from exercising.  We try to go on walks every day, weather permitting.  The weather hasn't been letting us as much as we'd like too lately.  We bundle up though, when needed, and head out for a lovely walk.  It's a great time for Jeff and I to get some exercise, spend time together and talk.  When we aren't able to go for walks outdoors, we go to the rec center and use the elliptical machines and stationary bikes.  We've really been enjoying it!

Hide and Go Seek

Playing Hide and Go Seek

Ashton had his head tucked under my shirts.  He and Jeff were playing together.

Snowy Days

Ashton broke in the kids new snow shovel on my birthday.

Little boys are so fun and funny.  They love doing physical things, (my little guy does anyway).  :)

Hi Cutie Pie!!

Look at all that snow, at least 4 feet high.

Sweet boys!

Birthday and Sick Days

We celebrated Jeff's birthday on the 29th of December.  He and I went to the movies that day and most of us went out to dinner that evening.  We went to Texas Road House, the food was good as usual.  It is so packed there, I feel a little claustorphobic!

Jeff was flying his new little helicopter around.  The kids love to watch it.  Poor Madison was out sick in this photo.  She spent the majority of Christmas break like this (sigh).

When we went out to Orem a couple of days after Christmas, her right ear got plugged up due to the elevation changes and from having a cold about a week before.  Her ear was bothering her so much that we went to urgent care that night and found out it was red and swollen behind the eardrum.  We followed the doctor's orders for over the counter meds.  She didn't get any better, was vomiting and running a fever.  We went to two urgent cares Sunday morning, but they were both packed, had long wait times and lots of people wearing masks, so we left.  Her eardrum ruptured on Sunday night, when we were back at home.  Poor girl.  I'm glad she finally got some relief from the pain, although I'm sad that it got to the point of actually rupturing and that she was in so much pain.  We'll have a follow up visit with the doctor in a couple of weeks so he can check her eardrum.  She's on the mend now with antibiotics which she hates taking, but for which I'm thankful.

Bailee likes to copy her big sis and lounge on the couch pretending to be sick. :)

Jeff

This is a photo of Jeff and his mom, Jeanne, from our wedding day, July 08, 2000.

I'm getting burnt out on this phrase, but I'll use it just this one time...

I moustache you a question,
but I'm shaving it for later...

Jeff's been making me laugh lately by holding objects above his lip like a moustache, which is ironic since he used to have one.  Just this morning at the grocery store, he held up some type of vegetable from Thailand as a faux moustache and made me laugh out loud, he usually catches me off guard. :D

I'm so grateful for my husband who loves me despite all of my flaws.  Who makes me laugh, comforts me when I cry and is my biggest fan.  Love him!

Straight to My Heart

This is a bit of a silly photo of Jeff eating a biscuit, be he still looks handsome. :-)

Anyhow, this post is about him and a sweet little girl at church.  Today Jeff went to nursery with Ashton.  Ash still needs our presence to feel comfortable in there.  I came in a few minutes later because I needed a snack and I was checking on them.  When I came in, Jeff told me that Lizzy a sweet and beautiful little girl in our ward, who I believe is four, had run up to him, wrapped her little arms around his legs and gave him a Big hug.  We both thought that was super cute.  A few minutes later, I was walking to the other side of the nursery room toward Jeff, Lizzy was over there talking to him as well.  I overhear Lizzy say, "You look like my Josh."  Jeff replies with, "Oh yeah, thanks, whose Josh?"  Lizzy says, " Josh is my dad.....he died."  I looked at Jeff to reaffirm that she said what I thought she'd said.  I instantly started crying, with her sweet little voice and big innocent eyes and with what she'd said, it was just too much.  The feeling went straight to my heart and I had no willpower.  She was looking at me so funny, like she was bewildered as to why I was crying.  I told her it was because she was just so sweet and asked her to give me a hug, more for my comfort than hers.  Lizzy hung around Jeff a fair amount for the rest of the time she was in nursery, she's actually too old to be in there.  When the nursery children went into the primary room for singing time, I went in there to ask Jeff a quick question and Lizzy was sitting next to him and Ashton, she entertained him with her dancing and talked to him.  I'm so glad to have a husband who is kind and sensitive to others.  He told me he almost started crying as well and he confirmed, that I did instantly start crying, ugh! ;-)

I forgot to mention, that Lizzy's father, Josh, was the Bishop of our ward before we moved here.  He passed away rather quickly after being diagnosed with cancer, I don't know what type it was.  I never met Josh, but from what I've seen and heard from others, he was a great person.  He has an amazing family and my awesome vt partner and I get to visit teach the mother and wife of this family.  They do a 5K run/walk every year to raise money and remember Josh.  It's coming up in a few weeks.

New Post

Getting the cast cut off.  The saw was Loud!!

Jeff got his cast off on the 4th of May.  He's still waiting to get released from the doctor to go back to work.  He has a follow up appointment this Friday, the 18th, hopefully he'll be signed off then.  The following week we're going to Las Vegas, so he'll be missing work then as well.  It's been great having him home, but it will be a relief to have our normal income again when he starts back to work.

This is what his foot looked like before he got his cast on.  Ouch!!!  It's amazing how long it takes for bones to heal.  Slowly but surely!

Almost Like New

Two more days, and Jeff gets to go get his cast removed.  Yay!!!  He's been walking without his crutches for over a week now.  It's been so nice for him to have some of his freedom back.
On a sidenote, we went to this park in Lapoint yesterday.  Isn't it pretty?  I love the blue skies out here in the Basin.

It's been really nice having Jeff home with us.  It'll be strange with him back at work.  It will be good to get back to normal, although we'll miss him a lot.  When Ashton notices that Jeff isn't around, he yells "Daaad.....Daaad!".  It's so cute, I'm sure there will be quite a bit of that going on.

Jeff spent a fair amount of time on this spot on the sofa.  He made good use of his time by reading to the kids.

He also had to fix the vacuum.  See, you can still be helpful even with a broken ankle. ;)  Ashton tried to be helpful but really wasn't.  The look on Jeff's face says it all!

Our friend Ryann was over one morning and joined in on the lap sitting.

Baby Boy and Papa Smurf

No, I don't usually call Jeff, Papa Smurf, just sometimes. ;-)

Aren't they sweet?

Jeff went to see a specialist two days ago, to get his ankle checked out.  When they took the wrapping off, he and we were pretty surprised to see it was still swollen and also bruised.  Poor guy.  I'll post pictures of it soon.  He fractured his fibula, so he got a nice bright red cast put on.  He'll go back in about two weeks to get it reexamined.  It amazes me how well Jeff gets around with his crutches.  He can maneuver those things like a professional crutch user ;-) !  I could never use crutches as well as he can, I'd be in sad shape for sure.  Jeff has still been as helpful as he's able to be around the house.  Yesterday, I asked him if he could clean the kitchen sink and microwave for me, since those chores don't require much movement.  I was very happy he agreed to do them.  While he worked on those things, I vacuumed the house and vacuumed and wiped out the van.  It was sure nice to get a few things marked off of my mental to-do list!  It has also been nice having Jeff around so much.  Although, I would start to worry if this had to go on for too long, it would certainly take toll on our finances.  But for now, we'll enjoy our time with Dad.
